The school program

For school groups we made a special learning project where we explain about the history , creation of caves ,stalactites and stalagmites.

Schools which are interested can integrate the cave subjects in to their nature-biology class we provided the learning material and come to the classroom to explain and answer the kids questions.

The final lesson we do in the cave it self ,a a better lesson you can not imagine .

The School cave project

First step : We provided study material to the teachers , this project takes1- 2 class lessons depending on the time,

Second step : After the two lessons ,a speleologists . comes to the class room with equipments like helmet, lamp, clothing and rope. He will tells a story about caving and answers the questions from the kids.

The third step : İn this part will be the exploration from the Kocain cave by the class. In groups from 10 people we will go in to the cave and show the cave to the kids who al ready know about stalactites and stalagmites and see them now in real.

The Kocain cave exploration

Location: Antalya
distance to the new Antalya – Isparta highway, 45 km northwest of Antalya .

Properties: The Kocain cave which is one of the greatest natural caves of Turkey , The Kocain cave has signs of prehistorically usage and has writings on his walls the entrance is 70 meter wide and 20 meter high the cave is practically horizontal and about 633meter long .

The Kocain cave is situated 680 meter above sea level the cave was first discovered in 1919 the first real exploration was done in 1979 by dr Temucin Aygen who explored most of the caves in Turkey The cave stands in the period of the beginning of the history of the mankind, as the cavern was continuously accommodated by early humans during the prehistoric and classic periods starting from lower Paleolithic, medium and high Paleolithic, Neolithic, Calcolithic and Ancient Bronze stages. As a natural result of this, the cavern contains a thick cultural layer which can be 11 meters. But the longest and most important accommodation period of the cave is relevant with the Paleolithic period.

The usage at the classical period is more likely as an Offering Cave ( Temple ) and there are Greek inscriptions and niches at the cave exterior walls and ceiling.

We will explore this cave in the adventures way we provide you with helmet ,headlight and hand gloves and go in to two different cave systems ,the first one so big that a airplane can be stored inside the other small and crystal white .

The highest point in the cave is 70 meter high enough to put a church inside,

some very big stalactites and stalagmites grow from the ceiling ,
